Prophet Muhammad As A Role Model For Peace Makers
The Holy Quran says “And We have not sent you, (O Muhammad), except as a mercy to the whole worlds” – (Surah Al Anbya 106). Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was s symbol of love, peace and mercy for the whole universe. He has always endorsed peace and mercy through his action and sayings. His life as a role model for peace makers teaches us the following important roles that a peace maker should play.
Prophet Muhammad As A Role Model For Individual
A peace maker should always be unbiased. He should never take sides or favour any of the parties. He should always remain committed to his cause and works only for the appeasement of Allah Almighty. This is what we learn from the life of Holy Prophet (PBUH). We know that at the eve of Hijr-e-Aswad installation Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) did not favour any of the tribes. He resolved the issue so wisely that every tribe was satisfied with his decision.
Similarly an arbitrator should always draft a peace accord that is wholeheartedly acceptable to all parties of the treaty. This is possible only if the accord did not damage the interest of any of the parties. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) while drafting Charter of Medina looked into the interest of every party thoroughly. Medina at that time was a multi-cultural and multi-religious city. There were idolaters, Jews and Muslims living in the city. In such case drafting an accord that is acceptable to all, was a tough task but Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) did it so well that all parties were satisfied and agreed to it without any objection.
Prophet Muhammad As A Role Model For Diplomats
Another important lesson that we learn from the life of Holy Prophet (PBUH) is that a leader should always favour peace even if it hurts some of its people interests. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) agreed to all terms and conditions of the Treaty of Hudaibiya (Suleh Hudaibya) despite some of them were openly against Muslims interest. This is also a clear indication that Islam and its Messenger has always support peace.
Human Rights And Status Of Women in Islam
When the people of Taif thrown rocks at Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Angel Gabriel came to him and asked
“O, Prophet of Allah (PBUH)! I am at your service. If you wish, I can cause the mountains overlooking this town on both sides to collide with each other, so that all the people therein would be crushed to death, or you may suggest any other punishment for them.”
Prophet Muhammad As A Role Model For Educator
But the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said, “Even if these people do not accept Islam, I do hope from Allah that there will be persons from among their progeny who would worship Allah and serve His cause.”
Another very popular example of peace making from the life of Holy Prophet (PBUH) is the release of prisoners of War of Badr on a very simple condition, taught reading and writing to ten Muslims.

At the eve of Makah conquest, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) showed an unprecedented level of mercy that the world praises even today. He announced a general pardoned for the people of Mecca, despite they had breached the Treaty of Hudaibiyah. Not only this, he also excused Wahshee and Hinda, who had brutally martyred his uncle Hamza (RA) in the battle of Uhud.
