The fate of a battle depends upon the military strategy formulated by the generals of both the forces. A shrewd military general always keep his military loss minimum by designing the most successful strategy for waging the war. Whereas the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) guides us in all other aspects of life, it also act as a role model for military strategists. It guides us in the following ways.

Prophet Muhammad As A Role Model For Individual

Knowledge of enemy army, its strength, weaknesses, weapons and their plans, all are important for designing a successful military strategy. All this knowledge can be acquired only through successful espionage. Holy Prophet (PBUH) in all battles that he himself led successfully acquired enemy army number, weapons and all other necessary statistics. We can see this in the battle of Badr, Uhud and Batlle of Ditch (Khandaq) and so on.

A military general should always stood firm in the battle field and encourage his soldiers.

Another important aspect of a successful military strategy is the examination of battle ground and stationing of army strategically at the best position. In the battle of Badr Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) reached well before the army of infidels and took control of water wells, which in that time considered the most important part of successful military strategy. Similarly in the battles of Uhud and Ditch (Khandaq) Holy Prophet stationed the army strategically at the best positions. It was due to His successful military strategy Muslims due to its small number always won the battle.

Prophet Muhammad As A Role Model For Diplomats

Division and positioning of army in the battle field on the basis of their skills is the best military strategic manoeuvre that world learnt from Holy Prophet. In the battle of Badr, Uhud and Khandaq, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) positioned mujahideen on the basis of their skills and importance of location. 

Unlike all other military strategists and commanders of that time, Holy Prophet (PBUH) treated prisoners of war (POWs) in such a way that the world has never seen before. Muslims on the order of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) always treated prisoners of war very humanely. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had set released condition for the prisoners of war of Badr, who could not pay ransom, was teaching reading and writting to ten Muslims.

A general should never take decision only on his own, this is what we learn from the life of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In the battle of Khandaq, Prophet Muhammad ordered the construction of trench around Medina on the proposal of Hazrat Salman Farsi (RA).

Prophet Muhammad As A Role Model For Educator

In war, whereas military generals, even today, order their armies to destroy everything that comes in their way, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had always forbad His army from doing so. Muslim soldiers were strictly ordered not to destroy civilian buildings, burnt crops, cut trees and killed innocent citizens. 

A military general should always stood firm in the battle field and encourage his soldiers. At the battle of Hunain when Muslim soldiers scattered and some of them even started running back, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stood firm at battle field. He called to the running away Muslim soldiers “I am the True Prophet, it is no lie, and I am the son of’ Abdul Mutallib!”. Hearing this Muslims reunited behind him and they attacked so fiercely that they won the battle successfully.

Prophet Muhammad As A Role Model For Peace Makers

A military strategist should always play with the mind and nerves of his enemy. This lesson we learn from Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) decision of cooking meal in different kitchens at the eve of Mecca conquest.
