Forests: At present only 4.8 per cent land of Pakistan is covered with forests, which is far below from the required international level. The required international standard of forests covered land is 25 per cent.  Details of land covered by forest in provinces are given below.

Mineral Oil: Only 12 per cent of Pakistan’s need is fulfilled by the deposits of mineral oils present in the country. Its deposits are present in Attock District, Rawalpindi District, Jehleum District, D.G Khan and Badin District.

Natural Gas: Allah has blessed Pakistan with huge deposits of natural gas which is an important source of energy mix in the country. Its deposits are located in Sui, Pirkoh, Dhurnal, Meyal, Toot, Zin, Uch, Khairpur, Kandkot, Mari, Mazarani, Sari, Jackobabad and Dhullian.

Coal: Though it is found in abundance in Pakistan but unfortunately the coal present in Pakistan is of low quality. Its deposits are present in Salt Range, Makarwal, Khost Sharing, Mach, Sore Range Degari, Lakhra and Melting Jhimpir.

Iron Ore: Pakistan has large deposits of iron ore but mostly is of low grade with 30 – 35 per cent iron. Its deposits are located in Kalabagh, Langrial in Hazara District and Chilghazi.

Rock Salt: Pakistan has one of the largest rock salt deposits in the world. They are found in Khewra, Kalabagh, Jatta, Wareha, Bahadurkhel and Karak.

Chromite: It is used in the making of stainless steel, dyes, photographic material, tools and many other instruments. Its deposits are located in Chaghai, Kharan and Charsadda,

Gypsum: It is an important mineral resource and is used in the production of fertilizers, Cement and Plaster of Paris. Its deposits are located -in Daudkhel, Khewra, and Dandot.

Copper: It is used in the making of coins, tools, wires and other electricity goods. Its deposits are located in Chagho and Sandak.

Sulphur: It is used in chemical industries. It is found in Jackobabad and Mardan District.

Lime Stone: It is used in Cement, Glass and Sugar industries. Its large deposits are located in Kohat, Peru Nowshehra, Moghalkot, Margalla Hills, Salt Range, D.G Khan, Mango Pir, Kot Dijji, Ranipur, Murli Hills, Hernai and Lorali.

Marble: It is used in construction of buildings, ceilings, floor and decoration purposes. It is found in Kalachitta Ranges, Sheikh Jana Hills, Mirpur, Muzaffarabad, Mardan, Nowshehra, Swat and Dalbandin in Chaghi District.

Conclusion

Pakistan is a natural resources rich country but unfortunately due to government incapability and provincial division on the percentage of profit share we cannot take enough advantage of them. Whereas other countries are exploiting 90 – 100 percent of their resources, we are hardly making use of them.
