Difference Between Deen And Religion CSS
People often mistake term religion for Deen because they considered both one and the same thing. But in their essence they both have different meanings and concept. In below paragraphs we have highlighted some of the basic differences between Deen and religion.
According to Professor Edward Burnett Tylor, “Religion means the belief in spiritual beings.” This means religion only deals with a person beliefs and faith. In this way the scope of religion seems very limited because it is merely a collection of beliefs, ritual and prayers.
Deen on the otherhand is a broader concept. It deals with every aspect of human life. It encompasses both beliefs, faith and principles for the management of social, political and economic activities of an individual. It is therefore a complete code of life.
Islamic Beliefs And Its Impact on Individual And Society
Another major difference between Deen and religion is their motif. Religion basically talks about God. It guides us how to contact and worship Him and how to seek His forgiveness and help in the time of need? Alternatively we can say religion is focused primarily on the relationship between Creator and His creatures.
The Importance Of Deen in Human Life
Deen on the other hand is primarily focused on human beings. It along with religion also usher human beings in their social, political and economic affairs of life. Deen therefore deals both with spiritual and material life of human beings.
Rituals, prayers, seeking God help and His forgiveness, all are matters that belongs to private life of a person. On the basis of this we can say religion is personal.

Deen on contrary talks more about social, political and economic affairs of life. These are matters that are basically associatted with society. On the basis of this we therefore can say Deen is public.
The above mentioned distinctions are some of the basic differences between Deen and religion. Understanding them will help an indivivdual to know the scope and objectives of Deen-e-Islam.
